She Didn’t Even Know She Was Healing (Until This Happened)

This week’s Pilates class is a reminder that you don’t have to feel perfect to make progress. You just have to show up.


Sometimes, progress is so quiet you don’t even notice it happening.

Years ago, one of my clients began joining my Pilates classes to help with chronic shoulder pain. She was in discomfort daily, with limited range of motion, and had a surgery date already scheduled.

But something in her shifted.

She started coming to class more often. Not because she had to — but because it started to feel good. She loved the atmosphere, the movement, the way her body felt afterward. So she kept coming. No pressure, no big goals — just consistency.

And then one day in class, she lifted her arm overhead and froze.

"Wait… I couldn’t do that before."

Her range of motion had increased. Her pain had nearly disappeared. She was getting stronger without even realizing it.

A few weeks later, her doctor canceled the surgery.


This is what happens when we stop chasing perfection and start practicing presence.
